Chalets Lech Lodge

At the Arlberg, where the birthplace of alpine skiing stands, quality has always been prioritized over quantity, and a finer way of life has been cultivated. This is also reflected in the design of the Lech Lodge chalets, which exemplify what true luxury means today.

Johanna and Klaus Moosbrugger-Lettner made the Arlberg famous for its hospitality in chalet format – and made tourism history with their Lech Lodge.

The construction of the exquisite Lech Lodge holds a special place in our history. In several extensive discussions with the builders and investors Klaus and Johanna Moosbrugger-Lettner, CP Architektur, and the general contractor Jäger Bau, we were involved in selecting the right woods, contributing to the discussion about the design and functionalities of the wood elements and surfaces.

The result is a large order for Mareiner, presenting us with the welcomed challenge of developing many detailed solutions. Gran Paradiso brushed was used for the exterior of the chalets; for the interiors, Gran Paradiso hacked was chosen. In the saunas, ThermoWood was to be used, for which we commissioned a formaldehyde certification to confirm the pollutant-free quality of our boards with official approval.

An unforgettable night shift

When the construction was already in full swing, and the carpentry firm Feuerstein had made its constructive contribution on the Arlberg building site, we received an emergency call during our exhibition at arch@work in Vienna from the Strasser carpentry. They were responsible for the interior design of the lodges and alerted us that the wood supply was running out. If the next delivery didn’t arrive by the following day, eight specialists would be idle.

We weren’t about to let it get that far. Within minutes, we rearranged the production. In a record-breaking effort, we worked late into the night. By 1 a.m., we were loading the resupply for Lech onto the Strasser trailer, which had finally arrived in the Mürztal. Our forklift driver still sometimes talks about that night-time special operation, which allowed the work at the lodge to continue on time. When the lodges were completed, we wrapped up the project by inviting the Feuerstein carpentry team to a dinner with all the trimmings.
